Long dress with gold velvet print attributed to Maria Monacci Gallenga. Famous patterns block printed on the velvet inspired by the Italian Renaissance and the fantastic Lucquois bestiary of the 14th century. Trace of missing lining in red silk crepe at the collar on which was to be affixed the signature of the seamstress. Armholes and tie-downs at the shoulders are delicately "embroidered" with Murano filigree glass beads, a trademark of Mariano Fortuny in Venice and Gallenga. Excellent condition of color and conservation.
Maria Monacci Gallenga used to make dresses for Mariano Fortuny, a famous Venetian couturier. Maria Monacci Gallenga later made her own creations in Rome, Florence and Paris in 1928. A cult piece by Gallenga! Without signature but easily identifiable. No lining. Excellent condition and beautiful quality of the velvet.
