Floral printed Chiffon Silk summer dress inspired by Raoul Dufy Circa 1938-1940
Circa 1938-1940
France
Beautiful summer long dress in silk crepe muslin printed with large polychrome flowers (poppies?) and inspired by Raoul Dufy's creations. Sleeveless sheath dress with fine pleats underlining the chest and large flounces on the shoulders with a shawl effect in the back. As an encore, large side flounces in falbalas on the hips extending into the skirt with a mini-skirt effect. No underdress, no opening or side zip, as was often the case in the 1930s. Bias cut and very nice hand sewing finish. No flaws. Very good condition in terms of colour and conservation. Difficult to wear today because of its small size.
Dimensions: Equivalent to French size 35/36. Chest 78-80 cm, waist 68-70 cm, hips 80-85 cm, height 144 cm.
