Vest in painted buckskin Circa 1940/1960
Circa 1940/1960
France
Sleeveless vest in light blue and beige buckskin, hand painted on a musical theme in the style of Elsa Schiaparelli. Two brown buckskin pockets at the front represent the body of a violin and a drum. There are non-repetitive patterns painted on the buckskin in relation to traditional music: lyre, piano, violin, lute, trumpet, flute, etc. but also objects on the musical representation: books, sheet music, music stands, music notes, etc. At the back of the vest, there are two faces, a joyful and a sad, reminiscent of the theater with its two symbolic masks. Illegible signature of the artist. Excellent condition of color and conservation.
