France
Beautiful orientalist evening jacket or costume dating from the 1930s / 1940s. Yellow-green silk satin embroidered with golden sequins and appliqués of cords in golden threads. Fringes on the edge in trimmings of golden threads. Cut inspired by Kaftab with wide open pagoda sleeves, collar with a deep pointed neckline and long split tails at the sides. Closure of the jacket at the front with interior hooks and gold buttons with loop in golden cord (missing a pass).Lining of the bustier in greenish glossy cotton and tails lined with matching green taffeta. No label, seamstress work entirely handmade probably for a masked ball or an oriental party that was very fashionable between the two world wars. Very slight color variations of the yellow-green satin of the jacket, very difficult to notice, otherwise very good condition of color and conservation.
