Beautiful orientalist-inspired Art Deco Burnous evening cape in black Duchesse satin and gold brocaded lamé dating from the 1920s. The cape has a wide amplitude and arm loops for a draped effect. A wide, reversible gold lamé border runs from the shoulders to the arms and down the longer front. The cape ties at the front with a matching gold lamé bias. The back is shorter, with a triangular black satin placket (modified later?) ending in a tassel of black silk fringed trimmings. There is no lining and no label, although the work is reminiscent of that of the great Parisian couturiers. No flaws to report. Very good colour and condition. Wearable today.
