A Chinese Inspired Haute Couture Evening Kimono Circa 1910-1930
Amazing evening or party Kimono jacket in electric blue silk velvet panne in imitation of Chinese Mandarin jackets and dating from the first third of the 20th century. Definitely a work of French Haute Couture for a dressing up ball like the famous evening of The Thousand and One Nights of Paul Poiret in 1913. Velvet panne appliqué with Chinese gold brocade from the Qing period, richly embroidered with rhinestones and sky-blue and pink glass beads. Application of trimmings in cords made with golden threads with an âme de papier. lining in scarlet red cotton. Cross front closure with loops and buttons in pink opaline engraved with silver flowers. Very good general structure despite some pearls and rhinestones that they have to be reattached. No major fault, wearable today. Very good condition of color and conservation.
