A stunning wide-brimmed black straw hat from the 1950s. It is trimmed with lustrous black plaited straw around the edge, with a large matching braid on the front of the cap. Black tulle soutache embroidered with green, red and pink wool and silk forming a garland of flowers. Black elastic, headband behind the bun and black grosgrain soutache in the cap (soutache soiled). No label, but it bears the words France and Collection d'Aumale, a famous French noble family. No defects to note apart from a very slight natural patina due to its age. Good structural condition of colour and conservation.
