Circa 1940
France
Beautiful cocktail dress, probably Haute Couture, dating from the 1940s. Dress in chocolate velvet panne with puffed three-quarter sleeves adorned with embroidery in sablé using translucent glass beads and bell-shaped golden brass sequins, with a reminder at the crew-neck. Elegant fold of fabric work on the bust held in place by side darts. Skirt pleated in the back closed with a long zipper. Unlined dress but Couture hand-finishes. Very light patina of the velvet but without apparent damage. Some rare missing pearls in the embroidery. Good condition of color and conservation.
