France
Summer formal coat in printed organza, unlabelled but in the style of Pierre Balmain, dating from the late 1950s. Loose fit, flared at the bottom, slit at the back, three-quarter sleeves, and turned-down collar. Double-breasted coat with no buttons, made of sheer, translucent organza printed in the style of a naturalist painter, typical of textiles from this period. Large pattern with undulating stems laden with bellflowers in shades of pale pink and fuchsia pink. Entirely hand-sewn, probably an unidentified haute couture model, but very much in the style of the House of Pierre Balmain. No defects to report, no stains or holes. Very good color and condition.
Dimensions: Equivalent to size 40 in France. Shoulders 14 inches, sleeves 16 inches, height 43 inches, chest 37-39 inches, hips 48 inches.
