Haute Couture evening dress with train in black Calais lace by Karl Lagerfeld for House Designer Chanel and dating back to the end of the 1990s. The sheath under-dress with large backless and integrated boned bra, is made of silk crepe covered with black muslin. The long-sleeved over-dress and high collar, has an effect in biais obtained by strips of black lace sewn obliquely. Large black chiffon side train stitched to the split skirt. Originality of the back buttons that widen from the neck to the armpits. Closure on the side by zip. Label white background black graphics Chanel numbered 77018 on the back. To note a tiny hole of 0.5 cm in the train otherwise excellent condition of color and conservation.
This dress comes from the wardrobe of Joy Corine Hendericks who was Director of Haute Couture and Public Relations at Chanel from 1997 to 2001. Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honor, Member of the Advisory Board of Mona Bismarck American Center, Director of the Society of Friends of the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, Joy Corine Henderiks began her career in fashion with Yves Saint Laurent, Emanuel Ungaro and Chanel. After working in the world of auction houses and contemporary art, she joined HSBC where she leads external relations. She disappears in November 2017.
