Music-Hall Evening Dress Embroidered with Black and Silver Sequins Circa 1980
Circa 1980/1985
France
Music-Hall Evening Dress inspired by Art Deco in Silver and embroidered with black and silver faceted paillons and silver tubular pearls from the 1980s. Skin-tight dress with short flounced sleeves with small shouder pads. Embroideries on black muslin alternating geometric patterns, stripes, Art Deco triangles ending in draped and wavy stripes in the skirt recalling a mermaid tail. Large oval cleavage in the back tightened by a hook with rounded collar with Egyptian revival type. Shoulder pads in foam that can also be used as puff sleeves. Zip closure in the back at the waist. Black nylon lining. No label. Probably a French Music-Hall show dress with all embroidery and hand finishing. It lacks a few pearls especially at the neck and shoulders (hard to see), otherwise very good condition of color and conservation.
