A Mademoiselle Chanel Couture white cotton Set numbered 59989/59990 Circa 1970
Circa 1970
France
Interesting historical model. Chanel Haute Couture white cotton piqué dress and suit effect jacket numbered 59989 and 59990 and dating from the early 1970s (probably from the time of Mademoiselle!). Sleeveless, V-neckline strapless dress with wrap around skirt. White silk pongee lining and back zip. Traditional House jacket with double flap pockets and matching buttons in cotton piqué. Highlighted by an elegant braid of white and navy passementerie, reminiscent of Mademoiselle Chanel's Marinière culture. The lining is made of white cotton poplin, which conceals the traditional gold chain, making it a rare summer item. Original Chanel silk sewn label with cotton bolduc on the back bearing the handwritten number 59990 for the dress and 59989 for the jacket. This set is clean with no apparent flaws, despite some slight yellowing in areas of rubbing (mainly in the lining at the collar). Good general condition of colour and conservation.
