Revillon Frères Haute Couture Evening Cape in Embroidered Silk Velvet Circa 1920
Long evening cape in black silk velvet and Fuschia cotton embroidered by the famous designer house Revillon Frère and dating from the Art Deco period. It is one of the oldest French designer houses founded in 1839 and known worldwide for its work on Furs. Cape with small smock finely pleated at the neck and collar decorated with a large button in braided silk cord. Draped effect starting from the collar on the right shoulder by two long velvet tabs which are tied laterally. Large bouillonné strip in fuchsia embossed cotton with large flowers and geometric Art Deco patterns embroidered in chain stitch with black, rose and golden threads. Lining in black damask satin with three smocked pleated rows in pink fuschia silk pongee adorning the bottom of the coat. Black braid of trimmings adorning the edge of the lining. Label sewn to the collar in black satin printed gold indicating Revillon Frères Made in France. Note two tiny slits on the last row of silk at the bottom of the lining, otherwise clean and wearable today. No other defects to note. Very good condition of color and conservation.
