Marcel Rochas Haute Couture Skirt and Jacket Bar Set in Wool Ottoman Circa 1947/1950
Rare skirt and jacket bar set in striped wool ottoman by Marcel Rochas, famous Parisian Haute Couture Designer House dating from 1947-1950. Famous for his round shoulders or sleeves with a Kimono cut, Marcel Rochas is also renowned for his bodice cut and skillful yokes as presented by this suit directly inspired by Christian Dior's New-Look. Straight skirt split at the back, with side zippers and grosgrain band inside the waist. Very structured Bar jacket, three-quarter kimono sleeves split at the elbow, pleats folded back on the shoulders, basques with flares hugging the hips. Three large buttons in corn are available from the largest to the smallest. Lining of the skirt and the jacket in beige silk crepe. Label woven in silk on brown background with beige and red graphics Marcel Rochas Paris numbered 5080 on the back of the label. Some very light and tiny brown spots (very difficult to notice) otherwise good general condition of color and conservation.
