In the style of Hermès scarves, a silk square scarf named l'Armée d'Afrique and the Duke of Aumale, French field marshal, dating from the 1960s. Manufactured by L.R Paris, which began production in 1959. In the centre, several effigies of the Duke of Aumale on a cream silk twill background. On the edges, swords, kepis and musical instruments of the African Army on a sky blue background. Rolled edges and hand-stitched like Hermès scarves. Note a hint of rust (see last photo), the only flaw to report on this beautiful vintage scarf. Colour and condition are very good. A rare and uncommon piece.
