Circa 1980
France
A long evening dress in Burgundy velvet by Pierre Cardin Haute Couture dating from the 1980s. Sheath dress with boat neckline and long sleeves zipped at the cuffs. The bottom of the dress, slit on one side, is adorned with a mille-feuille of large petals in striped lamé silk organza that moves elegantly as you walk. Lined and underdressed in burgundy taffeta, with the Pierre Cardin Paris Made in France label. An identical black dress was worn by French actress Jeanne Moreau with Pierre Cardin at the Festival de Cannes in 1976. The burgundy silk velvet panne is of extremely high quality, with no marks on the velvet except on the collar, a slight mark (not very visible) from an old necklace. No other defects to report. Very good colour and condition.
Dimensions: French size 42-44. Height 138 cm, shoulders 41 cm, chest 96 cm, waist 90 cm, sleeves 59 cm, hips 107 cm.
