Black and white tuxedo jacket by Yves Saint Laurent Rives Gauche, from the famous couturier's Autumn Winter 1988-1989 collection. The young Anna Wintour, making her debut at Vogue America in 1988, wears a similar jacket in a photo that will be passed on to the buyer. Shoulder-length jacket, long sleeves with black and white silk satin cut-outs in a cubist layout inspired by the work of Picasso. The large, pointed neckline at the front is fastened with a black shaped glass button, echoed by three identical buttons at each wrist. The dramatic effect is heightened by black fluted braid trimmings delineating the two-tone effect. Black duchesse satin lining and Saint Laurent Rives Gauche Paris label, size 38. To note, a micro blue trace on a sleeve very difficult to notice, otherwise jacket cleaned. Good condition.
Dimensions: Equivalent to French size 38. Height 60 cm, shoulders 45 cm, waist 80 cm, chest 92 cm.
The Haute Couture Autumn Winter 1988-1989 collection pays tribute to the artists who inspired Yves Saint Laurent during his career. From Braque to Picasso and Fernand Léger to Mondrian, the collection plays with the cubist geometry of shapes and colours.
