A Dramatic Orientalist Party Coat Inspired by the Ballets Russes, France Circa 1910/1920

Circa 1910/1920

France

Dramatic party coat of orientalist taste, directly inspired by the Ballets Russes or the imagination of Pierre Loti, the famous orientalist artist at the Belle Epoque. Background in cotton jacquard with geometric patterns, bottom band printed and embellished with gold embroidery in chain stitch. Appliqués of neo-classical frieze braids with reminder at the wrists. Sleeves made of silk and cotton with silver lamé stripes, eliminated on the forearm, revealing the weft of yellow cotton ... A must of creativity in the use! Front closure by hook at the collar with pleated cotton cream. The cream cotton lining has some dirt, yellow traces and especially a stamp of costume designer difficult to read "Location costumes Théâtre Romieux, Nîmes ..". Apart from the defects of use described, this coat remains stable and in good structural condition for wearing.

Dimensions: Equivalent size 38/40 France. Height 121 cm, shoulders 43 cm, collar 48 cm, chest 104 cm, bottom circumference of the coat 200 cm.
