Circa 1938 - 1942
Germany
Elegant long dress in black and salmon artificial silk crepe, collected in Berlin, dating from the late 1930s. Straight cut, long sleeves with geometric triangles typical of the period. An ingenious salmon-coloured silk bodice, pale pink at the bosom, accentuated by three knotted gans forming trapezoidal slits. Reminiscent of the salmon ganses and creases, the cuffs are buttoned with four small buttons covered in the same pattern. There are pleats at the shoulders and at the top of the back, also decorated with a small braid. The black crepe falls beautifully and fluidly. Closed at the side with five snap fasteners. No lining or scratching. Beautiful hand-stitched finish. Slight period patina, but no holes or stains. Good overall condition in terms of colour and preservation.
Measurements: Equivalent to a French size 36-37. Height 117cm, shoulders 39cm, sleeves 60cm, bust 87cm, waist 76cm, hips 90cm.
