A Pale yellow brocaded satin Interior dressing gown Circa 1940-1950
Circa 1940-1950
China for export to Europe
Beautiful 1940's gown or dressing gown for the reception in shiny straw yellow silk satin embroidered with a japanese flower pattern. Loose coat, crossed in front and closed by bells in matching silk trimmings. Remarkable machine-stitching work forming parallel beading on the collar, cuffs and lapels of the slanting pockets. Belt with loops to tie in front. Last testimony in the fashion of interior dresses for the reception as one can observe in the Hollywood cinema between the two wars. An exoticism assumed! Some rare micro-dirt and scratches very difficult to detect, otherwise clean and stable silk. Good general condition of colour and conservation.
Dimensions: Equivalent size 38-40. Height 137 cm, shoulders 41 cm, chest 94-96 cm, sleeves 61 cm, waist 74-84 cm, hips 92-96 cm.
