A long black woolen coat embroidered by the Maison Lesage with large baroque volute patterns from the shoulders to the hips. Embroideries of mercurised lying fish scales sequins and roses of translucent tubular beads. Gigot sleeves, V shaped-neck and zipper closing the front coat. Excellent condition of color and conservation.

This coat fits precisely those worn by famous artists of the late 1930s such as Marlene Dietrich or Wallys Simpson. From Baroque inspiration, it is closer to the 1938 collection on the theme of the Zodiac and the Palace of Versailles. Here the grandiloquence of appliqué embroidery such as those made by Maison Lesage, illustrates the magnificence and the thousand sparkles of the Hall of Mirrors. Elsa Schiaparelli was, with her friend Elsie de Wolfe, famous American decorator, fervent admirers and regulars of the Palace of Versailles.
