Rare silk square or scarf commemorating Napoleon Bonaparte's victory over Austria at the Battle of Marengo, which took place on June 14, 1800. A handwritten note on the left indicates the provenance of the collection of Mr. Jacques Rouet who was then the General Manager of the House of Christian Dior. A fluid and supple square with four fringed tapered edges, printed on silk twill with a large central medallion showing the effigy of Bonaparte on horseback. Framed by laurels and flowers topped by the N of Napoleon. Christian Dior signature in the right corner. No stains or holes. Very good condition of colour and conservation.
