Rare Haute Couture evening coat in black silk jersey crepe by the Parisian house Jean Dessès made at the end of the Second World War. Flared cut with raglan sleeves very slightly shouldered, open front with thin matching belt to tie in front or back. Two side pockets curved and highlighted with braids of silk passementerie applied. Beautiful molding work with paisley design under the pockets recalling the technique of Italian Trappunto or French Boutis of the eighteenth century, which was in vogue in the 1940s. Black Duchesse satin lining and original label indicating Jean Dessès 37 Avenue Georges V Paris. Very rare small cuts, no other defects to note. Good structural condition.

Jean Dessès (1904-1970) owned in Paris, from 1937 to 1968, one of the most important fashion houses of the time with more than 200 employees and located at 37, avenue George-V, in a building of four floors until 1949. He is famous for his molding technique and for the use of fluid silks such as crepe or muslin in accordance with the aesthetics of antiquity.
