A red embroidered wool twill jacket from the Beijing Opera, China, dating from the first third of the 20th century. Tunic cut with stand-up collar, blue silk trim, ties at the sides. Rich raised embroidery in silk and silver thread, using running stitch and Beijing stitch in particular. Designs featuring Taoist symbols from the Qing period with dragon heads, bats, turtles and fish on a wave background at the bottom. Pink cotton lining. No flaws. Very good condition.
Dimensions: Measured flat: 108 cm high, shoulders 42 cm, bottom width 75 cm.
