Black pleated dress by Issey Miyaké Staircase Pleats or Ziggourat - Autumn Winter Fall 1994-95
Autumn Winter Collection 1994-1995
Japan - France
Iconic black pleated polyester maxi dress by Issey Miyaké, from the collection entitled "Staircase Pleats" or "ziggurat" from the Autumn Winter 1994-1995 fashion show. Dress sewn in two parts with an asymmetrical staircase effect on the long sleeves, the pointed stand-up collar and the sides cut out in a zig-zag. Side train effect on the left side. Inverted pleats in parallel bands create great elasticity in the dress, which moves naturally with the body. Japanese model with the Issey Miyaké label in one of the bottom seams, and two labels in Japanese. No flaws, little or no wear. Excellent colour and condition.
Dimensions: One size fits all, French size 38-42. Flat, shoulders 42 cm, sleeve 59 cm, chest 102 cm, height 119 cm, amplitude of the bottom of the dress 138 cm.
Issey Miyake's 1994-1995 "Staircase" collection is considered one of the greatest fashion success stories of the late 20th century. Immortalised by photographer Irving Penn in 1994, press critics at the time said that the precisely cut staircases in this collection evoked early modernist art and design movements, including Cubism, Bauhaus and Russian Constructivism.
