A velvet skirt embroidered with beads, sequins, and lurex - France, 1970s
1970s
France
Unbranded long skirt in coral velvet dating from the 1970s. The skirt is made of orange-coral cotton velvet with multicolored embroidery featuring sequins, glass beads, and gold lurex. The design adorning the front of the skirt at the two slit side pockets is accented with cabochon flowers appliquéd in wool felt. Full pleated skirt with a wide waistband that fastens at the back with a zipper and hooks. The skirt is lined with matching nylon. A label in the lining reads “Créations Marcelle Amalvy, modéliste.” Very slight marks on the velvet at the waistband and at the bottom of the skirt at the back; these are the only flaws to note. The skirt is clean, with no holes or stains. Overall good condition in terms of color and preservation.
