Iconic jacket and trousers from the famous Tati collection by Azzedine Alaïa. Black Vichy cotton twill canvas with large houndstooth motifs. High-waisted outfit with a fitted jacket, large folded collar and double-breasted buttoning in front. Double-stitched darts and buttoned tabs at the cuffs. Jean trousers with patch pockets and zip fly. Clean, flawless with slight yellowing on the inside of the collar. Good condition in terms of colour and conservation.

Dimensions: Noted size 42, equivalent size 38-40 France. Jacket: shoulders 48 cm, sleeves 60 cm, height 44 cm, chest 92 cm, waist 78 cm. Trousers: waist 72 cm, hips 90-93 cm, inseam 61 cm, thigh width 61 cm, total height 101 cm.

"There's something bold about the idea that luxury can be cut from any medium. If Azzedine Alaïa had been given a tablecloth or a floorcloth, he would have made an evening gown or a sexy dress out of it. When you know how to cut, anything is possible," said fashion historian and curator of the exhibition Olivier Saillard, presented in Paris in 2020 at the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation (last photo).
