Haute Couture Cocktail Dress by Pierre Balmain from the wardrobe of Mrs Augier, owner of the Palace Negresco in Nice on the French Riviera. Babydoll type dress in black silk tulle densely embroidered with bouquets of flowers and seedlings by the Maison Rébé or the Maison Lesage. Gold embroidery in silk thread and lurex thread , decorated with cannetilles, pearls and cabochons with applied muslin. Dress with short sleeves, boat neckline and round skirt with four petticoats, three of which are in black tulle and one in stiff canvas taffeta. Black taffeta lined bodice with wire underwire for the bust. Black woven label, white lettering indicating Pierre Balmain Paris and a cotton bolduc numbered 109646 on the back. No flaws to note, except for the bodice zip which has been changed. Excellent condition and color. Wearable today.
Measurements: Equivalent to French size 38. Shoulders 39 cm, waist 74 cm, chest 93 cm, sleeves 12 cm, skirt height 60 cm, skirt bottom 226 cm.
