Givenchy Haute Couture Catwalk Dress, Circa 1975
Haute Couture Black watered silk printed with white polka dots cat walk model. Pleated sheath dress with boned bodice. Wide matching buckled belt. Not labelled but with a hand written canvas ribbon inscribed "G 37 Tania Mm Carmen". Side zip. Perfect condition. G for Givenchy, Tania is the first name of the mannequin who wore this made-to-measure gown. 37 is the running order number in the Haute Couture catwalk show. Mm Carmen stands for Carmen Artola who was the première d’atelier at Givenchy. She followed Hubert de Givenchy from Balenciaga in 1968 and remained at the House of Givenchy until the last fashion show of 1995. Hubert de Givenchy is now chairman of the Balenciaga Museum Foundation in Getaria in Spain. Carmen Artola has donated several Balenciaga models to that foundation.
