Haute Couture Mermaid Dress Circa 1910/1920
Haute Couture evening gown by an anonymous designer in black tulle embroidered with emerald green and black paillons from the Art Deco period. High-waisted bustier dress and thin straps in green velvet and wide integrated belt adorned on the chest with jet beads and faceted stones in green glass. Two Chantilly black lace tails are sewn in the chest and draped over the shoulders to form a train. Astonishing application in flakes of paillons in green and black celluloid embroidered in bias. Beautiful drapery effect design and large almond-shaped rib on the front. Long starry train ending in a point. Black tulle lining. No label but definitely Haute Couture or prestige dress for a show entirely sewn by hand. Structural fragility of this dress to handle with care given its weight. No major flaws. Very godd condition of color and conservation.
