A Printed And Sequined Chiffon Silk Evening Gown By Jeanne Lanvin Couture (Attributed to) Paris Circa 1928

Circa 1928
Paris France

A printed chiffon silk and gold sequined mid-long sleeveless tunic dress attributed to Jeanne Lanvin. Printed background in gradient of falling autumn leaves whose voids are entirely embroidered with random seeding golden sequins. The edge of the dress with embroidered lying gold sequins braid. Elegant asymmetrical draped panel onto the left hip, and back with lying lateral embroidered vertical trimming band. Without label. Excellent condition of color and conservation.

A similar model by Jeanne Lanvin is referenced in the collections of the Kent State University Museum in the United States (ref. 1983.001.95). The sense of freedom that emerges from this random pattern of falling leaves, added to the fluidity of this Kimono cut, presents an unfamiliar work of the French seamstress at the end of the 1920s compared to the structure of these clothes to the next decade.
